About Vedic Meditation

Vedic Meditation is a gentle, simple, yet highly effective technique that naturally quietens the mind, restores vitality, and supports overall wellbeing.

It allows the mind and body to settle into a deep state of rest — often more restful than sleep — releasing years of accumulated stress. In this deeply restful state, an overactive mind is soothed and fatigue is gently resolved.

With regular practice, it supports both mental and physical wellbeing, creating a sense of calm, happiness, and fulfilment. Vedic Meditation also enables the expansion of awareness (consciousness), cultivating a greater connection to and understanding of life — creating a foundation for living more fully.

This practice comes from ancient wisdom originating in India, forming part of a 5,000 year-old body of knowledge known as the Veda (a Sanskrit word meaning ‘knowledge’).

The Veda is the source of many great traditions, including yoga and Ayurveda, and offers insights into the nature of consciousness and the art of living well.

The Technique

"Happiness comes not from material acquisitions, but from gaining insight into the Self." — Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

It’s simple and effortless, yet very effective.
You learn in a specific way, receiving a personalised mantra — a sympathetic

sound that naturally resonates with the mind — which, through its specific use, guides the mind beyond the busy, active layer of thinking to subtler, quieter levels of thought, deep rest and

greater awareness.

The technique is practised for 20 minutes, twice a day, while sitting comfortably with eyes

closed — no cross-legged positions or special poses required. Its portability means it can

be practiced anywhere it's safe to sit and close the eyes - making it easy to include into a busy lifestyle.
